ABOUT
Daniel’s undergraduate degree is from Iowa State University
where he studied agriculture. His degree led him to work for Eli
Lilly and Co from 1981 through 1986 in their agriculture division.
In 1986 he returned to Dallas where he formed a landscape company.
In the mid 1990’s he changed careers to pursue counseling
and ministry. His Master of Divinity is from Perkins School of
Theology at SMU. His Master of Arts in Counseling is from Amberton
University. Rev. Gowan is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament
in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and is a member of Grace Presbytery.
His theological internship was at First Presbyterian Church in
Garland where his responsibilities were split between pastoral
counseling/care, worship and education. Daniel’s clinical
training (CPE) was at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
In addition he has studied family systems theory with Dr. Terry
Germann and Ed Steinke and Imago Couples Therapy with Harvel Hendrix.
Daniel is trained in the use of Prepare/Enrich Relationship inventories,
and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. He is also licensed
by the Texas Department of Health as a Licensed Professional Counselor
.
From 2001 through the end of 2004, in addition to his counseling
practice, Rev. Gowan served Methodist Hospitals of Dallas in a
half-time capacity as Palliative Care Chaplain. Daniel helped
develop the first in-patient Palliative Care Program in the North
Texas area.
Daniel’s wide ranging life experience is one of his greatest
assets as he walks through the counseling process with his clients.
